The renovation, management and operations of the ex-Turkish Restaurant Hotel include the creation of a specialised hospital. Known for its restaurant, this historic building was severely damaged during the conflict in Iraqi territory. The renovation of the Turkish Restaurant Hotel includes the creation of a specialised hospital, complemented by a shopping centre and a panoramic restaurant on the top floor. The new project preserves the building's original architectural features, respecting its historical significance while adapting it to meet contemporary needs and future aspirations. The design is inspired by the Babylonian gardens, integrating natural elements such as the water of the nearby Tigris River and the greenery of Tahrir Square. This fusion of nature and architecture will not only enrich the aesthetics of the place, but also create a space for citizens to meet and converse.

Baghdad Hospital
The Design
The interiors of the new hospital are designed to create a bright, functional, and welcoming environment that conveys a sense of calm and security.
The spaces feature neutral tones and a minimalist material palette, with large glazed areas that allow natural light to flood in.
The internal layout is designed to ensure comfort and ease of navigation, integrating treatment areas, circulation paths, and waiting areas into a contemporary, orderly setting.
The use of simple elements, functional furnishings, and uniform finishes helps create an atmosphere that is both professional and human, placing the well-being of patients and healthcare staff at the centre.
The facility will be developed into a 100-room private hospital, designed to deliver high-quality care, advanced medical technologies, and clinical excellence. The hospital will provide a comprehensive range of specialised medical services, supported by modern diagnostic and treatment facilities, comfortable patient areas, and an efficient operational model.
Its design will prioritise patient safety, accessibility, and comfort, while creating an environment that promotes collaboration among healthcare professionals and ensures high standards of care.
The building's redevelopment stems from a desire to provide the community with spaces that are more welcoming, accessible, and contemporary. The interiors have been reimagined to foster social interaction and personal well-being, featuring light-filled communal areas, inviting waiting and lounge areas, and more fluid, intuitive circulation paths.
The new design emphasises natural light, a connection to the outdoors, and the use of warm, neutral materials, creating an atmosphere that is both elegant and familiar. The transformation goes beyond mere architecture: it aims to enhance the daily experience of those who use and inhabit the building, making it a more human-centred and inclusive landmark for the community.
